REPORT ON LAUNCHING OF PRODUCTIVITY PORTAL

The Productivity Portal being established by National Productivity Council was lauched at Chennai on 31st March 2008 by Prof. M. Ananthakrishnan, Chairman, Madras Institute of Development Study and the Chairman, Board of Governance, IIT, Kanpur.  The Development of Productivity Portal is a prestigious Project implemented by NPC  under the X Plan. The user requirements, contents and design inputs were provided by Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Productivity ( AIP ), the training institute of NPC at Chennai and   Hardware and Software Integration and Portal design & maintenance is being done by National Informatics Center (NIC), Chennai. Portal is developed as an online repository of knowledge on Productivity. Portal development is now at a stage that same can be used by the stakeholders. Portal can accessed by Registering at  www.productivity.in.

 After launching the portal, Prof.. Ananthakrishnan has  addressed the gathering at NIC, Chennai.   While addressing, he has appreciated the role of Productivity in economic development and also the use of technology in sharing the knowledge by all sections of society. He made a mention that Productivity Linked Increment recommended by the 6th Central Pay Commission highlights the importance of Productivity.   He also appreciated for the work done by NPC and NIC in the development of Productivity Portal.

 Shri.  A. Mohan, DDG, NIC, Chennai, delivered the welcome address and briefly mentioned about the work undertaken by NIC.

 Shri T. Rajachidambaram, Director and Head( AIP ), NPC has explained the vision, mission  and objectives of the Productivity Portal and the benefits to various stakeholders like Government, Academia, manufacturing and service sectors, productivity practioners and citizens by using the portal.  He also mentioned about the future development plans.

 Shri S. Shivakumar, Director, AIP , NPC has explained the various features of Productivity Portal.  Shri Manivannan, Sr. Technical Director, NIC proposed the Vote of thanks and he also explained about NIC plan in development and maintenance of the Portal in the next 3 years.

The portal launching function was  viewed by the Officers and staff of AIP and RPMG Chennai by using Video Conference facility at AIP while launching was done at NIC office. We are also enclosing herewith a few snaps of photographs during the inauguration of the Productivity Portal.
