We are happy to inform you that National Productivity Council has been directed by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Industry, Government of India on the direction of Honorable Prime Minister’s office to prepare and publish Indian Eco-Products Directory as GOI initiative to promote & showcase Indian environmental ingenuity and Eco-products.

 

In this regard, we seek your cooperation by way of furnishing requisite information in respect of any product of your esteemed organization that meets the requirements to be categorized as Eco-Product, as per following considerations.

 

In simple language, Eco-Product is defined as “any product which is made, used or disposed of in a way that significantly reduces the harm it would otherwise cause to the environment”. The broad criteria that can be used to classify a product as Eco-product is if it has been produced without compromising its functional capabilities having

 

improved quality

Increased product life span,

Reduced specific energy consumption during the manufacturing or its use,

Reduced water consumption per unit during manufacturing or its use

Reduced specific air emissions during manufacturing or its use

Reduced resources consumption during manufacturing or its use

Reduced solid/hazardous waste generation during its manufacturing or use

Replaced some of the banned / toxic raw material with non or less toxic raw-materials

 


We shall appreciate if you furnish the requisite information about the product which meets any/or more of the above mentioned criteria. In addition kindly

These products after recommendations from an expert committee would be published in the first of its kind Indian Eco-products Directory. With proposed wider circulation of this Directory, it is expected that it would also become a useful tool to promote the Eco-products, enhance industry image and to help industries compete globally.
